Faces of Foleon
Daniel Knoppers

Product and Engineering teams are often the unseen heroes in SaaS.
At Foleon, we believe they should be in the spotlight because ... where would our product be without them? So, we started Faces of Foleon as a way to not only showcase the amazing people behind the product but also as a way to celebrate their work and dedication.
Daniel Knoppers joined the Product #FoleonFam back in 2016, and he's the mastermind behind the OG Drag & Drop Editor, features like Undo / Redo, and many more exciting updates.
So, without further ado, meet Daniel. 👋
To start, tell us a bit about your role at Foleon.
I’m Product Manager at Foleon. Within that role, I'm in charge of the output, the Foleon Doc, or end product, so to speak. So what does that mean?
As PM, you are a problem solver. You listen to customers and discover the needs and pains they want to solve with our product. In my case, I am there to improve our platform so that customers can create stunning content experiences. The more it stands out from static PDF, the more you will see me smile. It’s my job to prioritize the product roadmap, and together with my team, we build the solutions required to create those top-notch immersive Foleon Docs.
What feature have you worked on that you’re most proud of and why?
Well, it’s more than a feature; it feels almost like a prehistoric artifact. But I’m most proud of the Drag & Drop Editor. We came a long way with that release. Back in the day, Foleon users had to pick a template and fill in forms to construct pages. With the introduction of the Drag & Drop Editor interface, we made it possible for a whole new group of people that are not tech-savvy to create immersive content without the help of IT.

The first version of the Foleon Drag & Drop editor.
If you had to pick one product feature you believe is a game-changer, which one would it be?
That will be personalization. Since I started the discovery phase for this feature, every customer I have talked to and every colleague from marketing to csm and sales to product has been very enthusiastic about it. I firmly believe that when it's released, it will be one of the most used Foleon features.
What excites you about Foleon's future developments?
The possibility to tailor a single Master Doc to multiple audiences in just two clicks. So no need to duplicate dozens of Foleon Docs anymore and get lost in a crazy amount of content and URLs. Customers will be super happy about the output since this will lift the engagement to the max with hyper-relevant and bespoke content. Higher engagement leads to more page visits and longer reading time, and readers get super excited about your content.
What sweet tunes do you listen to when working to get in the zone?
Usually, electronic music and singer-songwriters do the job—artists like Moderat, Kiasmos, Nils Frahm, Fink, and The National. And I'm a big fan of the Maribou State Radio playlist.
Thanks for chatting with us!
Who should we talk to next? Nominate a team member and add a question you'd want them to answer.
I nominate Stijn Dijkers. We have a shared music taste. So, I'm curious what's the next concert he will attend.
